Reduce Paper Usage by Using Duplex Printing by Mark Wagstaff
Save Money and Be Green
In these economic times, everyone is looking for ways to trim costs. An easy way to do this is to duplex print (print on both sides of the sheet of paper). Not only will this trim costs, but this reduces the amount of paper that ends up in a landfill.
Not all printers can duplex print. On many HP printers, if the model name contains the letter "D", e.g. HP LaserJet 4200DN, the printer has a duplex unit installed and is capable of double-sided printing. In contrast to printers, most copiers, or MFPs (Multi Function Printers) can duplex.
To duplex print, in windows you will need to click on the 'preferences' button in the print dialog box. This will then open the settings for your particular printer. The first tab of the print preferences window will most likely have a spot where you can select, 2 sided, or duplex printing. Most print drivers will also allow you to save this as the default, so that future jobs will automatically print in duplex.

Reduce the Number of Paper Jams by Kenny Rohrbach
Monday Morning Blues Did you ever wonder why your copier or printer seems to want to jam paper Monday morning more than any other time? The answer may be as simple as how you store your paper. Paper is a very good sponge. As paper is exposed to the air it will absorb the water and start to wrinkle. When your copier or printer tries to feed the paper it is more likely to jam if it has more water in it. This can also cause quality problems as toner does not transfer to the paper as well if it has more moisture in it. Here are some tips that may help. First, if you open a package of paper and don't use it all, tape the wrapper closed again. You can also store an open package of paper in a wooden drawer. When you leave for the weekend put the unused paper from your cassettes in a wooden drawer. This may take some time but it is better than having to remove a jam when you are in a time crunch on Monday morning.

Tired of Collecting Meter Readings? If your copiers are networked, there are software tools available that allow meter readings to be sent directly to AAA, eliminating the need to manually get a meter reading.
